The purpose of this programme is to make corrections to newly constructed homes where defects are reported within the first six months after constructions.
Eligibility
Owners of government homes constructed in government subdivisions.
Process
- Applicant must submit a letter reporting any defects found in the home to the Ministry of Housing. The letter should include date of occupancy, house number, subdivision where home is located, name, and contact.

- The Bahamas
- All other family Islands applicants must submit their letters through the Family Island Administrator’s Office, who will forward the application to be processed in New Providence.
- The Department of Housing will contact the home owner to acknowledge receipt of the letter and set up an appointment to assess the home.
- A Field Officer will conduct the assessment on the agreed date. The home owner must be present for this assessment.
- The Department will then set up an appointment for contractors to visit the home to obtain quotations for the work to be done.
- A contractor will be selected and work will commence on the home.
- Once work is completed, the home owner is required to sign an inspection verification form, indicating that the work has been completed and confirming satisfaction with the work done.

Turn-around Time
Requests for repairs to a government house in a Sub-division are processed in two to three weeks. Completion of work may vary based on the extent of repaired needed.
