Conveyance refers to the documentation of the transfer of ownership of land from one party to another. During conveyance exercises, the Ministry of Housing transfers the title deed for properties that were sold. Conveyance is the final step of owning government homes/lots. The owners must visit the Department of Housing in person to sign the Conveyance documents.
Eligibility
Home owners who paid for the lot or made arrangements through a lending agency.
Process
- The home owner must visit the Ministry of Housing in person to complete the conveyance exercise.
- Grand Bahama and Abaco can complete the conveyance exercise at the local Ministry of Housing Offices.
- Home owners on other family islands where the Family Island Administrator is also a notary public may also sign conveyance documents on the Family Island; however, the document must come to New Providence for execution.
- The conveyance will not be prepared unless official communication is received from a financial institution stating that mortgage arrangements are in place.
- In the case where the purchase is made in cash, a copy of the receipt must be turned in to the Ministry of Housing.
- Once all requirements are fulfilled, the Ministry of Housing will contact the home owner to complete the conveyance exercise.
