The Rental Programme
The Rental programme offers assistance to Bahamian citizens who face economic challenges and are unable to manage a mortgage. The service is also in place to assist Bahamian citizens in their quest to the next level of home ownership via the government’s affordable housing programme.
The Rental programme offers access to rental units for a period of one year; this rental agreement may be renewable for two additional years.
Eligibility
Bahamian citizens and residents who are 18 years of age or older.
Process

Fill out the application form and submit it in person at the New Providence Office as this service is only offered in New Providence:

- Once all requirements are satisfied, and based on availability of units, the applicant is contacted for a second interview and contract signing.
- At the second interview, the Housing Officer will review the rental agreement with the applicant.
- At this stage, the applicant's first month's rent must be paid prior to occupancy. Once this is paid and the contract is signed, the keys are turned over to the applicant.
- Once keys are turned over, the tenant is responsible for the upkeep of the interior of the apartment and all utilities.
- The monthly rental charge is due and payable at the beginning of each month thereafter. Failure to pay may result in eviction.

- Verification of Income (not more than three months old)

- Job Letter
- Social Service Recommendation

This varies as rental units are assigned based on availability.

There is no deadline associated with this service.
Fee(s)
There are no fees associated with this service. However, the first month's rent is required at contract signing.
